Thanks for Participating - CWA-AA, USA 19th Annual Reunion

Public Affairs Announcement

Fellow Fox,

We would like to thank all those who came out this weekend to help advance the objectives of CWA-AA, USA and our effort to help CWA. Despite the dismal show of attendees, which could be attributed to the several graduations and wedding/shower of family members of some of our alums in the area, as well as a general lack of participation from our members, we had a good time. We were also able to raise some funds (through pledges) to start the implementation of the “Sanitary Restroom” project. We hope that all classes and our general membership would support this very important initiative (see projects via www.cwaaausa.org).

At this year’s convention, new National Officers were elected to carry out the objectives of the association for the next two years. Liberia Ambassador to the United States, CWA alumnus-Hon. William V. S. Bull, charged the officers (led by re-elected National President Alex Wonasue) not to relent in their efforts to advance the objectives of CWA-AA, USA. More information about the officers will be published on our website shortly.

We would like to thank the Prince George’s County Executive, Hon. Rushern L. Baker, III, for his support and participation at our Crystal Awards/Installation Banquet. Hon. Baker, through his representative, also expressed his admiration and genuine interests in working with members of the African Community residing in Prince George’s County, Maryland. For the out-of-towners, we hope that you made it home safely and are recuperating.

Special thanks to our vendors (for purchasing tables, souvenir ads, etc); local members (for your food/drinks contributions); DJs (Christian Nelson & Venus Thornes); Facility Management (College Park Community Center, La Fontaine Bleu); Fashion Show (Cecelia Cheah & Ellen Dunbar); Web Master (Gig Services); and hosts (Alex & Sylvia Wonasue and La-Verne Jones Williams). Additional thanks to all those who contributed to the CWA Restroom fundraised. We look forward to implementing at least a phase of this project upon collection of all pledges.

Pictures from the reunion will be uploaded to our website shortly. If you did not attend this reunion - you missed another opportunity to help your Alma Mater. And we hope that you double your efforts to attend and participate next year. Also, we ask that you kindly pay your dues via our website (for the 2010-2011 year), and make a donation (small or large) to the association via pay pal. Please note that we need your financial contributions to continue to help CWA.

VERY IMPORTANT! The reunion date will now be changed from Memorial Day Weekend to avoid necessary competition (e.g., graduations, weddings, and other major activities) to another date to be determined by you shortly. A survey will be posted on our website with three dates for you to select from – more information coming soon!

Thanks for your support!!!

Let’s get into the business of giving back to our Alma Mater and keep the wheels of CWA-AA, USA turning!!! Public Affairs
