Open Nominations for National Officers of CWA-AA, USA INC.

From: CWA-AA, USA Executive Board

Subject: National Convention 2021

Attention: Members and Supporters of CWA Alumni Association, USA

Dear Members and Supporters,

This is to announce that the 2021 CWA AA, USA National Convention and election of officers have been postponed  from January 16, 2021 to a tentative date of March 27, 2021. Taking into account the current status of events in the USA, and after additional consultation with several alumni, the Board voted to enact this change in the best interest of the Association and its member body.

The extension will allow us the time to assess the post inauguration and prevailing pandemic conditions, avoid conflict with the newly announced Maryland Democratic Party’s 2021 Presidential Inauguration Virtual Gala on Saturday, January 16th, as well as add time to advertise the new date.  As promised, this election will be free, fair, opened, and inclusive to ensure that every alumnus can participate and elect the leadership of his/ her choice. In wake of the current socio-political climate in the country precipitated by last Wednesday’s horrific events, as well as the grim milestone of COVID-19 cases and deaths, the Board believes the postponement of the convention is not only critical, but also the most logical action at this point. In making this decision, the Board also took into consideration the number of alumni and members of our community who have been directly or indirectly impacted by the recent loss of family and friends.

Except for the aforementioned date change, all other mechanisms will remain in place. The deadline to register for the convention has also been extended through March 15, 2021, and application/nomination extended through March 5, 2021. Additional details and links are included below for your convenience. Please share this information with class/schoolmates and update relevant parties accordingly. Thanks to those who recently paid their membership dues through May 2021. Although dues and convention fees have been suspended as requirements for participation in this year’s convention (due to the significance of this convention, as well as, the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic), your financial support is still encouraged. Add your name to The Wall (optional)!

If you have further questions or concerns please contact us at, or 240-715-7737.

The nomination for National Officers is now extended through March 5, 2021. The positions include President; 1st Vice President; 2nd Vice President; Secretary; Financial Secretary; Treasurer; and Chaplain.

In keeping with our By-Laws, we are requesting nominations for candidates for all positions beginning now through March 5, 2021 (deadline). Positions that are not contested within the time frame will be opened on March 27, 2021. There will be no nominations from the floor for positions already applied for. You may nominate yourself or an alumnus/a for an open position (one per candidate). The counting of ballots and the announcement of elections results will be done immediately by the election facilitator. Click, Read and Submit!

We wish you a safe and prosperous New Year and, as always, thank you for your continued support!
